One Day Scholastic at the Luis Salinas Memorial 79th Annual Texas State and Amateur Championships

A one day scholastic event in two sections. 5 rounds, Swiss, G/30;d5. This tournament will be held in conjunction with the Luis Salinas Memorial 79th Annual Texas State and Amateur Championships.  All tournament descriptions, advance entry links, and registration links are found on the event website.

We are hosting an In-Person USCF Rated Scholastic Tournament on May 11, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM.  USCF Membership required.   Capacity: 52 players!

Open Section at the 2024 Spring Del Valle Scholastic Chess Tournament

USCF rated chess tournament on April 27, 2024 in SOUTH AUSTIN for adults and more advanced scholastic players. 4SS of G/45 +5.  Thank you for playing! Final Results and Awards are posted. The tournament has been rated by the USCF.

Playing locations: Open section and K-12 Elite have been merged, and will play in room 137 (near the gym). Open plays for cash prizes and K-12 Elite plays for trophies.  Other U1000 scholastic sections will play in the gym.  Family/Friends wait in the cafeteria.

Basics

This is a Swiss-system tournament, so everyone plays all day—there is no “elimination.” Players must know how to play the game of chess! We follow USCF rules including: touch-move, mandatory clocks (bring your own if at all possible), and mandatory notation. If registrations exceed 32, we reserve the right to split into two sections.

Any youth who have reached at least 1300 by the April 2024 USCF supplement.
Ineligible entries will be moved to the appropriate scholastic section of the 2024 Spring Del Valle Scholastic Chess Tournament. 

This is a rated tournament. You must have a USCF ID and your membership (can be purchased/renewed at check out or online with the USCF in advance of registration) . You can verify your USCF membership ID and expiration by visiting the USCF’s Member Services Area. Anyone can become a USCF member. Players new to tournament chess are welcome to play. Your USCF membership cannot expire before April 30, 2024.  USCF memberships can be renewed/purchased at check-out.

No check-in necessary for preregistrations. We will make every attempt to contact you in advance if we see a problem with your registration. Verify your entry ONLINE!
9:00 a.m. Open section begins. Open has 4 rounds, all rounds are are G/45, +5.

No changes for round 1 (bye or section) allowed after online registration closes. Requests for byes, withdrawals, player info edits be made onsite with your chief TD and go into effect as of round 2.

Sections with fewer than 20 entries may be merged into a similar section to provide optimal pairings and competition. (Sections in this event have changed from the original tournament listing.  Thank you for your patience.)

Please note: April 2024 ‘Regular’ OTB ratings will be used for pairing purposes. If no regular rating is available, then other USCF ratings (quick, blitz, online) can and will be considered for section placement.  Requests to play down will not be honored. FYI: Any event that is rated after March 20th will not affect your April supplement rating, as those events takes place after April ratings are calculated.

All players in this event must be in 12th grade (or lower).

ACC USCF Rated G/90 Standard Swiss

This slow swiss takes place over 4 weeks, with games on March 23, 30, April 6 and 13. G/90 with 30 sec. increment per move. 4 round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $20.00 all. Online registration and payment requested -link thru the tournament  description.

USCF membership must not expire before April 30, 2024.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. The event has the potential to run late. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. One round may last upwards of 4 hours.

Last chance registration happens onsite 3:00-3:45pm on March 23rd. No pre-registration for round 1 is necessary. Email pre-registration is accepted; however, online payment is preferred! If you email to register, you must show up and pay no later than 3:45pm! First round begins at 4pm. Please be on time! Participants who wish to enter the tournament late may email Austin Chess Club. Late entry must be made (emailed) before 10am on Saturday, March 30  to secure a round 2 pairing.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. We suggest that scholastic players have reached a rating of 400 before participating.  USCF membership must not expire before March 31, 2023. International Women’s Day: Texas Queens Chess Tournament

Calling all women and girls! The Austin Grandmaster Chess Academy is hosting a tournament to celebrate International Women’s Day.  With USCF Rated Tournament and non-rated sections available, this event will be held on March 09, 2024 from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.  USCF Membership required for rated play.   Capacity: 40 players!
