Sunday Youth Open Play at the Cedar Park Library

The Cedar Park Library is moving!!! Chess should begin again in November…

Sundays at 1:30 – 3:00 pm.

Youth players in North Austin and Cedar Park have an open play opportunity at the Cedar Park Library. The group focuses on improving skills through contact with better players. Children of all ages and abilities and their accompanying adults are welcome. Sets and boards are provided, but you may bring your own equipment. Please bring clocks and notation sheets if you wish to use them.

Masks are optional. Players are seated with added spacing and hand sanitizer provided and usage encouraged.

There is no fee for participation in the group.

Monday and Friday Chess at the South Austin Senior Activity Center

In person chess has resumed at the South Austin Senior Activity Center, 10AM to 12PM Monday and Friday.  This is a twice weekly event.

NOTE:
While the Senior Center is closed for maintenance, on July 7th and July 11th we will meet at Wheatsville Coop South at 10am. Bring your own chess set and board if you have one.

Monday Night Chess at Dobie Mall

Our standard tournament is on break for the summer. Will be back on September 8th!

Our usual schedule.
Monday evenings. The tournament begins at 7:30pm. Arrive early enough to check in. All ages and abilities are welcome! Cost is $1/player (please bring exact change); all entry fees given back as cash prizes.

We play an unrated 5 round standard swiss of G/10, 3 second delay. There is plenty of time for game analysis between rounds.

Bring a set and a clock if possible.

Monday night chess at Dobie Mall has been a hallmark of the Austin chess scene for more than 20 years. We look forward to seeing you!

ACC USCF G/24 Quick-Rated Swiss

A one-day tournament on April 30th offering G/24 with 5 sec. delay per move. 4 Round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $10.00 all. USCF membership required Online registration and payment requested.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. We suggest that scholastic players have reached a rating of 400 before participating. USCF membership may not expire before April 30, 2022.

We would like to start on-time. Please arrive early. Entries must be received and paid in full by 3:45pm. Online entry preferred.

Cost is $10/player. We would like the first round to begin at 4:00pm sharp. Doors open at 3:00pm, so please arrive early. Follow the signs to our meeting areas.

Please bring a set and a board and some patience as we get used to our new surroundings. We are looking forward to seeing everyone again and meeting new people!

This slow swiss takes place over 3 weeks, with games on April 9th, April 16th, and April 23rd. G/90 with 30 sec. increment per move. 3 round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $15.00 all. Online registration and payment requested.

USCF membership must not expire before April 30, 2022.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. The event has the potential to run late. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. One round may last upwards of 4 hours.

Last chance registration happens onsite 3:00-3:45pm on April 9th. No pre-registration for round 1 is necessary. Email pre-registration is accepted; however, online paymentis preferred! If you email to register, you must show up and pay no later than 3:45pm! First round begins at 4pm. Please be on time! Participants who wish to enter the tournament late may email Austin Chess Club. Late entry must be made (emailed) before 10am on Saturday, April 16th to secure a round 2 pairing.

Mathnasium 2022 Summer Chess Camp – Fantastic Finales!

Description:  A full-day, week-long chess camp, hosted by the Cedar Park Mathnasium from August 8 – 12, 2022.  Featuring Certified National Master Paul Chaplin. All scholastic players are invited to register!

Each camp features five exciting days of an immersive chess environment and a fun-filled focus on a special featurette highlight (description below). Chess Camps hosted by Mathnasium are engaging and fun! Sign up early for lowest fees! Limited attendance – first come first served!  For more information, link to the the camp flyer!

Game ending crescendos and on-point techniques are investigated. Middlegames and endgames are served up with clarity — reminding us of a famous Lasker quote, “The hardest game to win is a won game”.
