This slow swiss takes place over 4 weeks, with games on January 7th, 14th, 21st, and 28th. G/90 with 30 sec. increment per move. 4 round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $20.00 all. Online registration/payment requested.
USCF membership must not expire before January 31, 2023. Please renew with the USCF (https://new.uschess.org/) before coming to the event.
Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. The event has the potential to run late. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. One round may last upwards of 4 hours.
Last chance registration happens onsite 3:00-3:45pm on January 7th. No pre-registration for round 1 is necessary. Email pre-registration is accepted; however, online paymentis preferred)! If you email to register, you must show up and pay no later than 3:45pm! First round begins at 4pm. Please be on time! Participants who wish to enter the tournament late may email Austin Chess Club. Late entry must be made (emailed) before 10am on Saturday, January 14th to secure a round 2 pairing.

Find the elevator outside the building (marked on photo by green dot); go up the stairs to enter via the door, follow the hallway until you find lit classrooms. Walk ons will get a 1st round bye unless registered by 9:00 a.m. at site. Bring your chess sets in case of large turnout
Parents/Sponsors This is an all day tournament. Please bring folding or lawn chairs since seating is very limited.
There will be lots of food and drinks available from the concession stand. Lunch is included! Please note you may play “up” a level, but your score may not be used for the overall team for your actual grade level.
Prizes Individual Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in all sections. Individual Medals thru 10th places in all sections. Team Trophies for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in all sections. *To be considered a team there must be at least 4 players from the same school all playing within the same section*
The tournament takes place on January 29, 2023 and will consist of an Open Section and a K-12 Section. There will be trophy prizes for the K-12 Section and cash prizes for the Open Section. The format of the tournament will be 5 Round Swiss – 15 minutes with 2 second increment. The tournament will be hosted on chess.com. You will need a chess.com account to play the tournament, and you must be a current USCF member.
