Elementary Varsity (PreK - 5/6*, U800)

Middle School Championship (any 5/6*-8/9*)
Middle School JV (5/6* - 8/9*, U1000)
High School Championship (all 9-12)

This tournament is an official Texas Chess Association sanctioned event. TCA has specific guidelines on section placement. If you are unsure of which section you should choose, please read a description of the TCA guidelines.


Please refer to the round times when requesting byes.

All JV sections are 5SS, G/30. Any non-championship section with more than 50 participants will have a 6th round, in order to prevent multiple perfect scores within a single section.
All Championship sections are G/45 in rounds 1-3, and G/60 in rounds 4-5.
The organizer reserves the right to combine similar high school and/or middle school sections if participation in any one section is fewer than 15 players.

Registration information:

Online registration required. Payment is expected at registration. Entries fees without payment will be increased as payment deadlines pass. Click "Register Now" (above)!
Early entry fee $25 (by Saturday 03/04/17).
Late entry fee $30 (by Saturday, 3/18/17).
Week of event entry fee $40 (by 12:00pm noon on Thursday, March 23rd, when online registration closes).

Withdrawals requested before Sunday 3/19 are eligible for a refund (minus a $5 service fee). No refunds for USCF memberships after purchased from the USCF. NO email/phone entries.

Payment is expected at the time of registration. (Please remember, your entry fee will be increased to the current rate if you register early, but wait to pay.) DO NOT MAIL your check after 3/18/17 -- we may not receive it in time!

No onsite registrations accepted.

Your entry must be paid in full by 3/23 at 12 noon in order to be paired for round 1. If you request to pay onsite, you will not be paired for round 1. Please contact Lori Balkum, registrar, if you have payment issues and cannot complete payment at registration checkout.

Verifying your entry on the pre-registration list will help clear up issues in advance! We will make every effort to contact you (by email or phone) if we find a problem with your entry.

Food and Snacks: Food and snacks will be available for sale on site. The Westwood Debate and Speech Booster Club will be offering a variety of menu items on the concession stand. Remember, pick up your own trash and clean up your own spills! No smoking, no alcohol
