Basics

We have an exciting day of chess planned, with three separate events! All ages are welcome to play.
  • Rated Blitz Tournament!
    • Starts at 9:00am
    • Time control: G/5+3
    • Number of rounds dependent on entries
    • Sections dependent on entries
  • Unrated Bughouse Tournament!
    • Starts at 12:30pm
    • Time control: G5+3
    • Number of rounds dependent on entries
    • Sections dependent on entries
    • Sign up as a team or sign up solo and we’ll help you find a partner
    • Each team must have at least one clock
    • Special award for best parent/child team!
  • Variant Free Play!
    • Free play, not a tournament
    • Starts after Bughouse tournament
    • Play variants such as 960, Atomic, 3-Check, and more
    • Learn new strategies and improve your creativity
    • You can bring your own variant equipment, like a 4-player set or Harry Potter set!

Eligibility

All ages are welcome to play!
For the blitz tournament, a US Chess membership valid through April 2026 or later is required. No membership is required for the other events.

Come ready to play and have a good time, make some new friends, and learn some new strategies!

If you have a variant set, like 3-player or 4-player, feel free to bring it with you.

 

Awards

Awards will be given to the winners of each tournament, with a special prize for the top parent-child Bughouse team. Parents, this is your chance to win a chess trophy!

Registration Information

 

*Blitz $20, registration ends at 8:40a
*Bughouse $20 per player ($40 per team), registration ends at 12:15pm. Players may register as individuals, and we will help find partners onsite.
*Variant play $0 (FREE) – no need to register, just show up and play starting around 2:30!

Withdrawals requested via email before midnight on Wednesday 4/22/26 are eligible for a refund (minus a $10 service fee).
