SECTION A: 1400+ USCF rated Octagons

SECTION B: 1000 – 1399 Open USCF rated

The tournament will consist of two different formats:

Octagon Format: Section A will be divided into groups of 8 players based on currrent Monthly official USCF Ratings with swiss-system pairings.

Open Tournament Format: Sections B – D will be run as a normal swiss-system tournament

**If there is an odd number or not a multiple of 8, it is the Tournament Director’s discretion to group players accordingly**

**Players are not allowed to play up or down** 

 

ENTRY FEES: 

Early Bird: $50 by September 21, 2025 by 11:59pm 

$60 on or after September 22, 2025

Top 2 highest rated players of the whole tournament will receive a guaranteed entry fee reimbursement if they complete all 3 rounds

Section A: $250 for first place in each octagon 

Section B: $150, $100, $50 + Medals

Section C: $100, $75, $50 + Medals

Section D: Chess books + Medals

 

 

TIME CONTROL: 

Section A: G/75, d5 (75 minutes per player with a 5-second delay)

Section B: G/45, d5 (45 minutes per player with a 5-second delay)

Section C: G/45, d5 (45 minutes per player with a 5-second delay)

Section D: G/30, d5 (30 minutes per player with a 5-second delay)

Any violators may be subject to disqualification and forfeiture.

2025 Texas State Women’s Championship

The 2025 Texas State Women’s Championship, taking place October 4–5, is an in-person individual tournament designed to crown the top women chess players in Texas. This year, the event aims to expand interest and create more competitive opportunities for women in the state.

We are excited to partner with Tech Mahindra Global Chess League (GCL) to organize this year’s championship. Notably, this may be the first USCF-rated Texas event held in a corporate setting, adding a unique dimension to the tournament experience.

Additionally, the 2025 edition features the largest prize fund in the history of women’s chess tournaments in Texas underscoring our commitment to supporting and celebrating women in chess.

Open to all women who reside in Texas, titled and untitled players including students

Must be at least 16 years as of Oct 4, 2025

Registration will close once 46 players have signed up, per venue capacity.

Current TCA Membership required – Join Texas Chess Association

(Note: USCF and TCA memberships must be arranged in advance; organizers will not process them onsite.)

No phones will be allowed in the playing hall. There will be another room where bags can be left with their coaches/chaperones.

Description: This is a USCF rated swiss chess tournament open to all chess players. There will be 4 rounds with 3 sections all held on September 13th. 1/2 point bye available for any round if notified before Round 2 is paired. No last round byes.

ACC USCF G/90 Standard Swiss

This slow swiss takes place over 4 weeks, with games on October 11th, 18th, 25th, and November 1st. G/90 with 30 sec. increment per move. 4 round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $20.00 all. Online registration and payment requested.

USCF membership must not expire before November 30, 2025.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. The event has the potential to run late. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. One round may last upwards of 4 hours.

Last chance registration happens onsite 3:00-3:45pm on October 11th. No pre-registration for round 1 is necessary. Email pre-registration is accepted; however, online payment is preferred! If you email to register, you must show up and pay no later than 3:45pm! First round begins at 4pm. Please be on time! Participants who wish to enter the tournament late may email Austin Chess Club. Late entry must be made (emailed) before 10am on Saturday,  October 18th to secure a round 2 pairing.

ACC USCF Quick-rated G/24 Swiss

A one-day tournament on November 22, 2025 offering G/24 with 5 sec. delay per move. 4 Round Swiss. Sections dependent on turnout. EF: $15.00 all. USCF membership required.  Online registration and payment requested.

Austin Chess Club is a wonderful atmosphere for the mature, experienced chess player. Scholastic players are welcome, but expected to play quiet, serious chess. We suggest that scholastic players have reached a rating of 400 before participating.  USCF membership must not expire before November 30, 2025. Please renew with the USCF (https://new.uschess.org/) before coming to the event.

We would like to start on-time. Please arrive early. Entries must be received and paid in full by 3:45pm.  Online entry preferred.

Cost is $15/player. We would like the first round to begin at 4:00pm sharp. Doors open at 3:00pm, so please arrive early. Follow the signs to our meeting areas.

Region VI Girls’ Championship

The Austin Grandmaster Chess Academy is hosting the Region VI Girls’ Championship on September 20, 2025 from 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.  USCF Membership required.   Capacity: 80 players

This tournament is a qualifier for the Texas invitational which will be held in the spring to decide Texas’ nominee for the Annual WIM Ruth Haring National Tournament of Girls State Champions! The winner of the Championship section will be the Region VI participant in the Texas invitational. Players may also qualify through state championship scholastic events. Questions? *We go by monthly published ratings, but if your live current rating goes up before the tournament, you may email us and request to change sections.
