Scholastic Tournament at the Houston Summer Chess Festival

Scholastic Individual Tournament, 4SS, G/30 d5, 1-day only (Saturday). Awards to all players.

Four Scholastic Sections:

(for individual Players in K-12 by rating sections)
Unrated (for those who have a current USCF membership but no official rating yet).

Prizes and Awards:

Trophies to top 10 individuals in each section.
USCF-recommended computer tiebreaks will decide trophy and medal placements for winners of all scholastic sections.
Every non-trophy winner receives a souvenir chess medal

Entry Fee:

$20 by 7/13, $30 thereafter and at site


All four games will be G/30 d5.
All games will be played in one day: , Saturday July 21st).
Registration: Saturday 8:30am-9:30am
Rounds are at 10:00-11:30-2:00-3:30
Awards ceremony immediately after last round.


Only one 1/2-point bye allowed and must commit before Rd. 1.
No byes may be added, changed or rescinded in the scholastic tourn. after the start of Round 1.

The scholastic event will be played in a Separate room from the Houston Summer Chess Festival.

Scholastic Players may play in both Scholastic Tournament (any section) AND the Main Tournament (U1300 section only) for a discounted entry fee of $75 by registering for the Scholastic Tournament AND the U1300 section in the 3-day Schedule of the Main Tournament with a 1/2-point Bye in the 2nd Round of the 3-Day Schedule.
